The 3D Concert Movie

After Celine Dion and Justin Bieber, it is the turn of the series “Glee” to be implemented on movie screens time to a musical performance. Fans will dance and sing in 3D while a neophyte scratching their heads trying to understand the scope of this phenomenon and the existence of this feature film has more to do with an infomercial.

The 3D Concert Movie

The success of “Glee” was immediate. At a time when “American Idol”, “Star Academy” and “High School Musical” won an almost instant fame, it was quite natural that this new program in which actors interpret the individuals who sing hits music would be extolled. And what a tidal wave. Overnight, millions of people took a liking to Blaine Anderson, Santana Lopez and Mercedes Jones. In the meantime the new season, umpteenth biography and the 683e compilations, why not continue the pleasure in cinema?

The logic was to make a film of this experience. Oh no! The producers opted to broadcast – by slightly modifying the way – the images of a tour what made its stars. A song multitude that is punctuated reflections of admirers. In this regard, the material collected does not in subtlety. As if the fans had no life before the birth of “Glee” and now they can finally really exist. The speech, manipulative and moralistic in possible are underlined again and again. For nearly 80 minutes, it will be possible to hear these people talk about their experiences, that they were able to face the ups and downs in overcoming adversity. That are gay, disabled legs, small person or more corpulent than the average, the real beauty is in the head and it is important not to get discouraged but believe in your dreams. A horde of comments preaching that leave room for doubt that almost everything is a joke, then do not.

Fortunately this section does not monopolize the lion’s share. The viewer is rather there to see people dance and sing. And they will be served by a multitude of numbers that follow each other quickly. Too, for that matter. Achieving Kevin Tancharoen (who was responsible the superficial remake of “Fame”) does not take the time to film these body sway their hips. Everything is cut to the speed of light, like a common video. Suddenly, difficult to know if this wildlife knows actually well to dance. Musically, the series a claims to have the pretension to explore all styles of music is limited to the big commercial pop (Michael Jackson, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga and My Chemical Romance). It is away too rarely, remaining well in the conventions of the genre (Queen, Pink, Aretha Franklin). Frankly unequal interpretations are of very good (Lea Michele or rather Rachel Berry) to the very painful (let’s be polite and we erected on the wrongful), within a few well tucked up versions of tubes of Barbra Streisand and the Beatles.

Booking very few surprises to earned audience in advance (everyone knows that Gwyneth Paltrow will make an appearance) and is inflated to three-dimensional effects completely uselesss (unless one likes to see the microphones out of the screen), this passage from “Glee” in film ultimately leaves very few memories.

It is very far away, for example, the musical documentary “101″ which followed a fan during a concert of Depeche Mode, and where it was possible to learn as much about the British training people who listen to this style of music. Perhaps a more film adaptation of the essence of the show would have been smarter than this trivial derived product.
