This is the first year without a new “Saw” long. In order to satisfy fans of horror, Hollywood rushed to order a new “Paranormal Activity”. After the collapse of the second effort innovating much of the original, it was legitimate to tremble and not necessarily for the right reasons to this proposal that takes place, mode requires, before the first volume.

It would be wrong about new filmmakers Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman who are now in control. As in their uneven but nonetheless intriguing “Catfish” directors like to create false documentation, taking literally the recipe for the spice of their special mixture. Everything is a matter of attachment to the characters, which are quickly becoming familiar with the introduction that takes its time to camp issues and develop the different psychologies. When they prove credible, then the viewer cares about what will happen to them, the fun can begin.

The slow and deliberately repetitive forces the compile to constantly analyze the images that stand before him, looking every bit of shadow problems. Work at all times that gives shivers down spine even though, ironically, really scary moments are few. It’s the atmosphere that is more appropriately unhealthy swallow these facilities scriptwriting. The simplicity of the effects used – the fear of the dark, imaginary friend, this invisible entity that appears in the mirror – is serving a boilerplate plot, a bit long but the final, exciting at will, is to alone the price of admission.

The event that is perhaps not as effective as “Poltergeist” or “Insidious” also includes plenty of humor, does not fully taking seriously even though what happens is rather dramatic and disturbing. Laughter can better withstand the time resolution between two moments of tension, and some situations more “striking” may well appeal to an audience that already bored of Fantasia.

Developing suspense, like the underrated “The Last Exorcism,” explodes at the very end; “Paranormal Activity 3″ comes to get back on track by taking a series moribund almost the same elements, but by preparing them differently. This may not be as terrifying and fascinating as the excellent “Take Shelter” which opens at the same time, but as a result of which almost no one expected anything, the result is surprising.
