Movie Review of Tangled
Disney finds the roots of the tale with “Tangled”, a movie punctuated with princesses, beautiful and legal songs. A forgettable story in its first part, but cute as all later, which might well appeal to young families.
The father of Mickey Mouse in nostalgia. While his arm multiplies Pixar sequels to his success instead of having new ideas (from “Toy Story 3″ this summer and “Cars 2″ next year), his cartoons “regular” undergo a rejuvenator, reviving a more simple, a classic canvas and even a horde of melodies. This explains why they have decided to implement the famous tale of the Brothers Grimm “Rapunzel”, swapping its darker themes for a lot of weight.
A young girl (voiced by Mandy Moore in the original) is trapped in it forever. The visit of a handsome stranger (Zachary Levy) led him to discover the world around them, which may get angry and protective mother maliciously.
With all these remakes, these times and these suites, movie lovers tend to think that the future of cinema entertainment is … in his past. One that rings a bell immediately to the viewer, in addition to improve the special effects in three dimensions a bit superfluous, as is the case here. The project could almost see the day 20 years ago (and more) as the recipe drop almost the same, few new spices – especially ironic that speech that appears when the voice of the introduction and conclusion – does not necessarily accurate color to work.
It begins almost like an episode of “Barbie in the forest”, a third volume of “Little Mermaid” but without water. A story explained roughly, a heroine to mop endless moral issues oversimplified, childish gags for the whole family, nothing that makes you want to continue the screening. What would be a shame, because the best comes after 30 minutes. When Rapunzel leaves her house, the adventure can finally begin, a few action scenes, allusions often funny and a romance that works deliberately corny anyway.
This hocus-pocus is possible thanks to the care taken by directors Byron Howard and Nathan Greno who had already worked together on the sympathetic “Bolt”. The goal is not to revolutionize anything, but timidly entertain, to spend a pleasant moment be forgotten pretty quickly. They arrived with focaccia brought to the characters, including humans at Disney are constantly upstaged by animals. No matter what happens to this girl and this man, there will always be a frown and a chameleon’s hilarious enjoyable action of the horse.
What remained attached to the end, even if the songs are almost never do in mind. That’s where the rub and differentiates this production well caring of true classics of the genre, such as shows “The Lion King”. Instead of taking his time to perfect the script as much as drawings and symphonies, the work seems to have been done too quickly. As a fan of the genre end up with something drinkable but uneven in quality below established last year by “The Princess and the Frog”. This will not prevent the target audience to take a taste … and even to question the authority of parents, for example by refusing to cut his hair!
