Short review on “Judy Moody & the Not Bummer Summer”

Apart from entertainment, it is increasingly difficult to make intelligent films for children. It is certainly not. “Judy Moody & the Not Bummer Summer” which overthrew the steam as the effort is sweet but boring.

Judy Moody & the Not Bummer Summer

The summer is fast approaching. All plans of the young Judy (Jordanna Beatty) fell into the water when she learns that her friends and her parents will be out of town. Alone with her annoying little brother (Parris Mosteller) and her aunt (Heather Graham), she will still attempt to deal.

This adaptation of the bestselling books by Megan McDonald is suffering from a syndrome increasingly common. Everything is in shape but nothing is in the background. The first few minutes suggest a feature film that is full of life and warmth. The colors are sparkling, the tone is good-good mood, heroin is encamped with charisma by the young Jordanna Beatty and achieving very much in the tone of John Schultz (“Aliens in the Attic”) who plays tributes background (in particular western) and winks (in comics) announces an infant version of “Speed Racer” or “Scott Pilgrim”.

Instead we must settle for an imitation “Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2″. The screenplay recycles laboriously all platitudes Humor fat and supported can count on toad urine, vomit sitting in an amusement park and excrement sandwiches. 90 minutes. No, there’s nothing very funny in those 90 minutes. Poorly measured pace leaves come for a swim and relaxed interpretation of stereotypical characters gives little chance for actors. Heather Graham has been a good actress, but sees her running after the primate Bigfoot will not help to improve its image.

We must also question the representation of heroines on screen the recent “Something Borrowed” asked viewers to identify with a woman who did everything to steal the husband of her best friend. Here, Judy Moody is a kid selfish, irresponsible and spoiled, which seeks to take credit for the actions of her younger brother, while forcing his friends to play a competitive game where the person who gets the most points will be passed best summer. Some heavy moral counterbalance all before the fall of generic, but these examples contrast with the pernicious “Matilda” and other “Ramona and Beezus” test significantly more samples, successful and entertaining.

Families with young children should not be discouraged. Despite the failure of “Judy Moody & the Not Bummer Summer”, the titles to them are numerous. “Kung Fu Panda 2″ is still showing, and “Super 8″ shows a young activated with intelligence and expertise. Quickly forget what this production spoiled.
