Insidious
The team behind the franchise “Saw” is back with “Insidious”, a film haunted house that includes a lot less gory scenes, but much more real chills. Fans of the genre will be delighted with this highly effective way.
A home loss. A couple (Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne) and their three children. A child who falls into a coma disturbing. Strange noises. Hallucinations. A threat that is increasingly felt. All items are waiting for you to cause a real scare.
And what a scare! Music and sound effects are partly responsible for these bursts. They are deployed in the carpet, leaving no chance for spectators. But there is also the good old way of provoking repulsion. Fear of the dark, for example. Or shadows moving. An entity that appears in unexpected places, another who acts without any logic and disturbing faces, clowns and dolls of wax. No, the bleeding hearts are unlikely to get bored.
Does “Insidious” is a good feature as well? Yes and no. Yes, because it respects its own internal logic. One that starts conventionally before surprising in the way it reveals the darkest nightmares. The long introduction to the subject can acclimatize to the characters, the interpretation of Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne is much higher than average and the staging is no shortage of expert care and panache.
Not because the interest is not always the same. In the second half especially when a team arrives for ghost hunters. So the production becomes laughable, bearing the likeness of these special effects are not always convincing. Or the holes in history. What smile and not take everything seriously. What is not worse for it. Both in terms horror comic that it is possible to have a good time. Which is pretty rare for this type of exercise.
Cross between “Poltergeist”, “Paranormal Activity” and the original version of “The Amityville Horror”, “Insidous” is much more satisfactory than previous efforts (“Saw” and “Dead Silence”) of the tandem James Wan (upon completion ) and Leigh Whannell (the scenario). There are still clumsy in operation and a final punch a little pointless. Except that the demonstration is scary and entertaining, two data are not negligible.
