Fright Night
The vampire movie is not only horrific, dramatic or romantic. It can also be downright comical and twisted as shown so “Fright Night” in which Colin Farrell drinks from the neck of any mortal.
The story is simple. Charley (Anton Yelchin) is convinced that his new neighbor (Colin Farrell) is a bloodsucker. Nobody wants to believe, but what would happen if they did?
Since the wave “Twilight”, feature films starring a follower of Dracula are numerous. There are so many of the excellent (“Let the Right One In”, “Thirst”) as the vile (the list goes on), the vein is running out. Without necessarily trying to renew the genre, filmmaker Craig Gillespie (author of the ingenious “Lars and the Real Gir” and the pathetic “Mr. Woodcock”) has reinvented version “Fright Night” in 1985 to provide a new generation of moviegoers.
Like the trial of Tom Holland, the fear quickly left the room for comedy. It starts quickly in these dialogues that are often beyond the understanding, these far-fetched situations that are sewn in white and the son completely apocalyptic confrontation. Like “Scream” and “Zombieland” met for tea, calling the passage “Rear Window”.
The contribution of comedians is no stranger to this modest success. Colin Farrell having fun as a little crazy and it’s hard not to go to laugh at his facial expressions. He does not need to force as does Christopher Mintz-Plasse more or less comfortable in a supporting role.
The actor provides his good looks and irresistible jokes, liked to eat apples to mesmerize his opponents (yes, like the demonic being of comics and animation “Death Note”!). Facing him, Anton Yelchin takes everything very seriously, offering lively performance to the passage. This duo is supplied with ammunition by the hilarious David Tennant in illusionist cracked by Toni Collette as a mother and outraged by Imogen Poots in girlfriend who is eager to get down to business.
Despite its excessive length and three-dimensional effects are very uneven, “Fright Night” in a good mood an audience that is ready to embark on a crazy adventure where humor and hemoglobin go well together. This is not always in good taste and Roman Polanski can sleep soundly, which does not final result of the charm of his second degree, distribution to continually smile and staging surprise by some hocus-pocus (continued by car through the desert is impressive).
