Film Review Thor
The film was officially launched. A week after “Fast Five” who did not want adrenaline, the entertaining “Thor” ignites the screen. A luxury blockbuster produced by a real author of the seventh art.
Banished to Earth by his father Almighty (Anthony Hopkins) for putting his clan in danger, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) seeks a way to retrieve his hammer which gives it incredible strength. He is assisted by three persons, including the alluring Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) who is not insensitive to his charms.
Disregarding the remake of “Sleuth”, the latest film from director Kenneth Branagh went hard on Quebec. Despite its qualities, it should catch “The Magic Flute” and “As You Like It” straight to DVD. That the filmmaker back to a more extensive project. As in his earlier “Henry V” and “Hamlet”, the lover of Shakespeare treats his subject like a Greek tragedy. There are a divided family, the power that corrupts, betrayal between brothers and an impossible love.
Very serious topics … if things do not come from a comic strip in the 1960s. Avoiding being taken seriously, the director decided to treat everything with a grain of salt, which makes a mockery of much good and who can recall the underrated “The Green Hornet” by Michel Gondry. In the way of his version of “Much Ado About Nothing”, the kitsch alongside the constant good humor. This makes it easier to accept these situations exaggerated, these dialogues tested and these characters are underdeveloped, however, encamped by talented actors.
Approximating the original version of “Clash of the Titans” and even a “Conan”, the narrative is punctuated with a plethora of spectacular action sequences, including several set pieces that are worth visiting. Hard not to celebrate these heroes inspired by Norse mythology when they attack a sort of robot or iron during this final showdown in a fertile imagination. The (too) feature film directed primarily to Marvel fans, admirers gather with joy the many nods to “Iron Man” and “Hulk” in addition to the traditional cameo by Stan Lee and a surprising final flash at the end of the generic listing “The Avengers” which will open during 2012.
Despite his white son and his facilities, his propensity to do too much and do not always explore their history in depth, “Thor” has the merit of having a vision for the author. Like Christopher Nolan, Bryan Singer and Ang Lee before him, Kenneth Branagh infuses his trademark and his style all his own, both in terms of the themes of achieving almost shifted and senior executive who pays a heartfelt tribute to Brian de Palma. Too bad nobody has not said that three-dimensional effects not well integrated giving a headache and portfolio.
