Fast Five

Good weather, bad weather, the series “The Fast and the Furious” continues to bring people into the theaters even if the quality has never been the rendezvous. “Fast Five” is no exception to this rule when he had all the elements for the better part of the lot. It will be for next time, which could certainly take place underwater or in space …

Rio is not only the scene of birds looking for their owners. This is also the place where hides Brian (Paul Walker), his girlfriend Mia (Jordana Brewster) and his brother Dom (Vin Diesel). Whether a hard cop (Dwayne Johnson) is trying to put them in the shade, the trio decide to hire a special unit to steal money from the naughty corner. They are however better be quick on their accelerator, because it will do anything to stop them.

It announced yet something different: an unlikely encounter between gentlemen muscle Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson, Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger of their generation. Enough to satisfy fans who were disappointed baston by “The Expendables”. Yes, hope it was right to finally have a real action movie in the vein of “Die Hard”,”Speed”, “The Rock” and the last two Jason Bourne instead of indigestible dishes cooked a somewhat haphazardly and that abound on the market.

It unfortunately falls into this category as “Fast Five”. The introduction begins, however, not too bad. The story begins where the previous one ended and the first scene breath away merrily. Movie lovers can already imagine the clash of titans between the two heroes. But instead of being the “Face / Off” of the new millennium or the “Heat” poor suburbs, the film refuses the confrontation at the summit.

Instead, he prefers to use the same guideline that “Ocean’s Eleven”. It was however a fact of chemistry and charismatic characters to interest at all, which is not the case here. Most have no wicked nice presence to the screen (as in “Mario Party”, they are almost all from previous trials), Vin Diesel is mostly left to itself. There is simply no match to a Dwayne Johnson clearly more comfortable and quite funny in the way those around him yelling.

What is somewhat disturbing in that balancing act is given to serious situations. The first part is particularly dramatic, as the conclusion makes the most absurd parody, especially with this last sequence completely implausible and far-fetched that it would move from “True Lies” as a true story. Why not have any treaty in terms of snap-in corner of derision at home Soderbergh? This effort would have given a much more satisfying, more frantic proceedings (nothing comes close to “Bullitt”, “The French Connection” or “Ronin”) and a more competent execution by Justin Lin (the fans view by helicopter will be delighted: there must have every five minutes).

Instead we end up with an effort that could have been written by a child of five. And not a first class! As if the long (130 minutes!) Influence on the overall quality, whereas in fact it is the redundancy finally tired. People who want to see the splendor of Rio de Janeiro prefer to opt for the nice animation that is still on the screens. Action fans will find “Fast Five” is much better than the third and fourth effort of the series. And they are right. But that does not make a good movie so far, especially near the more hectic “Faster” which placed precisely featuring Dwayne Johnson.
