Cops outside – the review
The first time Kevin Smith agrees to direct a film based on a script, not his, here is assailed by critics. Even especially by its most devoted fan. Why not inspired enough, it works on commission, because he lost enamel, because do not sell to a major label. Bah.
That Cops outside not Clerks is undisputed. That it is also the unusual (but very successful ) Zack and Miri Make a Porno too. But that is just not to throw away.
The new strain of Kevin Smith undoubtedly has several unresolved issues, among which clear rhythm problems (broken and sobbing) and plot are probably sons of dynamic arbitration between the director and production. But Cops outside (literal translation of that Cop Out that Smith was forced to take the place of the original and far more apt A Couple of Dicks) Is not a film without the mark of its author.
And especially to be able fully what he simply longed to be: not a parody, sarcastic and disillusioned as a tribute to the golden age of Buddy cop movies, to 48 hours and Lethal Weapon. Perhaps this is another reason why America (and elsewhere ) of this film is that so bad, perhaps expected to parody ZAZ operation, and has been displaced by a film that mixes with rather large extent irony affection and exasperation in the use of all of the founding of a kind, express and implied, including latent homosexuality.
Cops outside is therefore a buddy cop movie in all respects, which focuses on the play but do not forget the crime that waiver to the postmodern sneer cinematographic (the riot police of citations beginning is nothing but a fart in this sense) and fully embraces the latest online production Smith.
What, after delirium anarchist Jay & Silent BobWith Jersey Girl and especially Clerks II and Zack and Miri sees the director could barely hide under a veneer of joyful childishness and talks sprouted and innocent provocation sympathy and especially the affection and tenderness she feels for the characters grapple with the tenderness of adulthood that is increasingly difficult to accept, in which case the ratio Willis with her daughter and that of Morgan with his wife.
Also undeniable that Smith been able to give a personal brand also did not originally his dialogues (that and so it would be absurd to require Smithian 100% ) and that several gag are justified.
