Cars 2
The most lucrative series of Pixar is back. Entertainment briskly led the tributes which multiply the spy movies, “Cars 2″ will be able to impress on the children of five years, in the absence of potting the Oscar for the best animation of the year.
A new course is preparing for the year and Lightning McQueen (voice of Owen Wilson in the original) has won well. The first step takes place in Japan and the famous red car arrived there with his good friend Mater (Larry the Cable Guy). The latter has a knack for being in trouble and it does not take long before it became a major player on a mission of espionage.
This highly anticipated animated children intrigue adults for more than one reason. This is the latest animation from Pixar and seal of quality is always at the rendezvous. The beauty is staggering images and the superficial effects in three dimensions remove to met with pleasure.
It’s beautiful, fluid, and the action does not fail. The pace is probably a well balanced anti-boredom for the little ones, the environmental load is smile, nod to the “Mission: Impossible” pollute and like all good “James Bond” was fun to change country every ten minutes. So the heroes find themselves in France, Italy and Britain, but with far fewer shots than in “Ratatouille”. The new regions that allow the creation of several cultural gags, the most comical are those that take place in Japan, especially during a session where Mater is washed.
Although the entertainment function is reached, the public expects more of a Pixar production. The first “Cars” is their cash cow (with sales of various products up to several billion dollars), this second volume is not an evolution. Quite the contrary. In recent years, the company offers only suites, which is a little sad on the artistic.
Especially here the power of wonder is almost nil, as the ability to create emotions from scratch. Everything has been seen previously and the many sympathetic characters are not always able to make. Perhaps it is the fault of the production of John Lasseter that emphasizes race and prosecution for the proper development of the themes, music everywhere and a little boring (mostly songs), the narrative structure is the same as that of “Toy Story 3″ or the many messages lined the left and right on the need to be different and the virtues of male friendship. A charge that ends up being boring.
Far from the traditional parent company that offered in the past the formidable “Wall-E” and “Finding Nemo”, “Cars 2″ might even be similar to what they have done less convincing since their inception. No, the feature works and it will wreak havoc at the box office, except that the charm operates more as before. Especially in comparison to the recent “Kung Fu Panda 2″.
